Hi, I’m Leana and I’m a Surface Pattern Designer based in Newcastle on the sunny East Coast of NSW, Australia.

I am the artist behind Leana Nicole Design, an illustration and surface pattern design brand. I create seamless repeat patterns that envelop the viewer through a combination of hand-drawn and digitally manipulated motifs inspired by travelling, history, nature and crafting.

I aim to bring products to life with flowing, ornamental and classic designs that are simply timeless.

Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of becoming an artist. I always loved to create art and experiment with all kinds of media. Not much has changed except that now I enjoy sharing my creativity with others through my pattern designs.

Nothing beats that feeling of being totally enveloped by a pattern: the combination of colours, shapes, textures and linework transporting you to another place and time. This is what I aim for with my designs and can help you bring products and rooms to life with timeless designs.

With a background in Graphic Design, much of my work is digitally created in Adobe Illustrator and Procreate, but I love to mix different techniques and media. My inspiration comes from travelling the world, an appreciation of historical design, immersion in nature, and a life filled with sewing and crafting.
